Nucleic Acid Extraction
Product Description
The MS series magnetic silica microspheres feature a core-shell structure, consisting of a submicron superparamagnetic iron oxide core enclosed within a silica shell. The silica shell protects the internal iron oxide, enhancing stability, while simultaneously endowing the microspheres with excellent aqueous dispersibility. Magnetic silica microspheres are typically used in nucleic acid extraction and purification, enabling the isolation of DNA and RNA from samples such as whole blood, plasma, serum, nasal/pharyngeal swabs, cell lysates, formalin-fixed tissues, and animal/plant sections. The surface of non-derivatized silica contains abundant silanol groups, which can selectively adsorb nucleic acid molecules under specific conditions, making them widely applicable in nucleic acid extraction experiments. Carboxyl-modified microspheres are more suitable for viral RNA extraction and can be adapted to various instruments and reagent systems.
